A Placemakers Development of Eight Future-Proofed Townhouses
Placemakers latest project is an exclusive development comprised of eight contemporary townhouses located on Beulah Hill, London. These three-bedroom family homes are designed to suit modern family life featuring open spaces, plenty of natural light, generous door to ceiling heights, home office space and private gardens.
The properties have been designed and built to meet the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) 2030 sustainability targets. This means that, in terms of embodied carbon and operating efficiency, our project meets a standard today that the industry hopes to be able to achieve in the next decade.
That’s what we mean by future-proofed homes.
Beautiful, Sustainable Design
We appointed Gbolade Design Studio who worked with us to make sure sustainability and air tightness were prioritised. We used high performance insulation in the substructure and superstructure, brick and block work. We also installed a mechanical heat recovery system instead of using the less-sustainable trickle ventilation system.
This development has been constructed using sustainable materials with the least amount of embodied carbon wherever possible and available in the UK today. Air source heat pumps provide energy to heat and cool the homes instead of the more traditional gas boilers. An underfloor heating system ensures that there is absolute comfort throughout the house. PV panels on the roof generate enough electricity to power all lighting. Electric cars can be charged using the EV points at the designated private parking spaces.
